Overall results (score 56)

Deb seems to fall in the middle between a Type A and Type B personality. Sometimes s/he is as laidback as a Type B; in other situations, s/he can be a high achiever or express impatience and hostility like a Type A. Either s/he adjusts his/her behavior depending on the situation, or s/he tends to have a moderate attitude. According to Deb's responses, s/he has a healthy level of Achievement Striving. S/he pushes himself/herself quite a bit, but not to the point where s/he is likely to burn out. While constantly having his/her nose to the grindstone is certainly not ideal, neither is simply accepting the status quo. S/he seems to recognize the importance of walking the line between these two extremes.

Competitiveness (score 51)

Deb had a moderate score on this scale, indicating that s/he exhibits a healthy amount of competitiveness. It may not be central to his/her way of life, but s/he doesn't shy away from it either. S/he rarely feels the need to compare himself/herself to others, and is confident enough in his/her own position to be able to share in people's good fortune without resentment. In general, s/he knows when to compete and when to go with the flow. This type of attitude can take him/her to the very top.

Drive (score 60)

Deb had a relatively high score on this scale. This means that s/he is an achievement-oriented person who may be a little too hard-driven. S/he is involved in an incessant struggle to achieve more and more in less and less time. Often times, people become preoccupied with achieving because they don't accept who they are at the moment. Self-acceptance is the first step on the road to a successful life. S/he should learn to appreciate who s/he is right now, not who s/he will be when s/he makes that big deal, gets that partnership, or buys that house. S/he can spend his/her entire life anticipating who s/he eventually wants to become, but in the process s/he may fail to appreciate all that is special and wonderful in his/her life at this very moment. Self-acceptance is not about giving up the quest for his/her dreams. It's about finding joy in his/her life by coming to terms with where s/he is, what s/he does for a living, how much money s/he has...right now. Being able to live in the present is the real proof of success, and it's something s/he can start doing immediately.

Perfectionism (score 60)

Deb is quite critical and too demanding of himself/herself and others. S/he needs to realize that in some cases s/he will win and in others s/he will lose; as long as s/he tries his/her best, s/he should let go of the idea of perfection. S/he shouldn't be afraid to give himself/herself a pat on the back when s/he gives something his/her all. Accomplishment and doing things well can feel good, as long as we don't make happiness and fulfillment contingent upon them. Deb has to recognize that people make mistakes and this is only human. It is also important to give occasional kudos to those people around him/her who are doing their best. Otherwise, they may start to resent the fact that living up to his/her expectations is so difficult. Being overly critical can also elicit defiant or passive-aggressive behavior from others.

Impatience/Irritability (score 54)

Deb's interactions with others, while generally characterized by warmth and tolerance, are also at times tinged with impatience and hostility. When s/he is stressed or frustrated, s/he can lash out at others or end up dwelling on his/her anger or frustration. His/Her moderate score may put him/her at risk because this aspect of the TABP can be extremely harmful to work relationships as well as his/her well-being.

Deb had a moderate score on this scale. This indicates that s/he generally has a composed temperament, but occasionally lets his/her temper get out of hand. S/he feels anger in some situations and can usually express it in a healthy way, although there will likely be exceptions. S/he seems to have found a balance between accepting the occasional flash of temper and not letting himself/herself get worked up over minor issues. S/he benefits from the mature relationships that s/he is able to form, but could probably establish even closer relationships if s/he became more comfortable dealing with emotions. While Deb does not act strictly to obtain external incentives such as wealth, recognition or status, s/he certainly doesn't mind such benefits.
